This is a beta release of the new much expanded Toshiba(tm) Linux Utilities.
In addition to the three original programs fan, svpw and hotkey are a new
programs alarm, dispswitch, tpasswd, tdocked, thotswap, ownerstring and TuxTime.

The home page for the Toshiba(tm) Linux Utilities is

    http://www.buzzard.org.uk/toshiba/

The program that you are most likely interested in is TuxTime. This comprises
of two seperate programs wmtuxtime that provides a dockable applet under
WindowMaker and tuxtime-conf that allows the settings to be changed. The
purpose of TuxTime is to display the battery remaining status including
any secondary battery installed in the SelectBay issue warnings when the
battery levels drop to user defined levels and change the battery save
options when the power source changes. In future there will be GNOME and
KDE versions of wmtuxtime.

Installation should be a dodle type './configure' to run the GNU Autoconfig
program, then 'make depend' to build the dependencies, 'make all' to build the
programs and 'make install' to install them. By default all files are installed
in /usr/local heirachy. The programs should be installed when logged in as
root as it requires installing a kernel module and makeing a device in
/dev. Before use make sure the kernel module is loaded with

    insmod toshiba

The kernel module will only work with 2.2.x series and later kernels. It
will currently not compile on 2.0.x kernels. Also the thotswap utility
needs to be run by root as it requires access to /dev/hda to signal the
removal/insertion of the SelectBay devices.
